Position Description:

Provides entry level GIS-based mapping services to the Engineering & Asset Management Division to support planning, engineering, operations, and safety activities companywide.

Utilize GIS software to update and maintain gas system and land base spatial data based on information received from internal field operations and external sources.

Analyze and interpret source documentation (engineering drawings, material sheets, CAD drawings, etc.) for completeness, correctness, and usability.

Communicate with business operations to resolve source documentation problems.

Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

Preferred Associate's Degree GIS or related field

Demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret engineering drawings and associated documentation, right-of-way information, maps, and legal descriptions.

Demonstrated ability to learn and use ancillary information systems, such as Maximo, to support day-to-day work activities.

Knowledge of ESRI desktop software for data editing, querying, map and report creation.

Demonstrated ability to follow regulatory requirements for the gas pipeline and utility industry, including company standards and procedures.

Knowledge and/or training related but not limited to:

Applicable GIS software

Basic geospatial concepts including:

Data formats Coordinate systems and map projections

Table and spatial queries

External data processing: format conversion, spatial adjustment, attribute mapping

Gas system business processes.

Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Minimum Applicable driver's license.

Mobility to travel in and around job sites system wide.

Able to operate tools and equipment required.

Remain stationary for extended periods.

Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 2-5 times a day; up to 30 pounds once a day; over 50 pounds once a week.

Communicate and /or exchange information.

Visual abilities sufficient to perform job duties.
