Examples of Job Duties/Responsibilities

  • Reads and properly interprets metes and bounds descriptions, new and revised plats, tax unit boundaries, special district boundaries, and other descriptions
  • Responsible for compiling and organizing GIS data from maps, databases and other sources
  • Responsible for the on-going spatial data maintenance and dissemination, end-user support and the generation of maps and other GIS reports and information product
  • Ensure that quality assurance on new or revised data conforms to standards laid out in the Geo Database, or any other applicable standard or policy
  • Give continuing and meticulous attention to detail
  • Create and document procedures and metadata definitions
  • Assists appraisers and other appraisal district personnel with mapping products and information
  • Interpret aerial photography or imagery
  • Operates engineering and color printers and produces maps and plats of various sizes and scales
  • Performs other duties as assigned


Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in geography, cartography, information systems, civil engineering, planning or a related field
  • At least one year of relevant GIS /computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience of standardized engineering drafting techniques, trigonometry, and descriptive/ coordination geometry
  • Knowledge of computer-aided mapping and geographic information systems, including working knowledge of ArcGIS and/or similar geographic information/computer-aided mapping systems
  • Commitment to teamwork and providing exceptional public service


Starting Salary

$39,289 subject to qualifications and experience
