Brookhaven's Drone Project
Speaker: Scott Sires Brookhaven college will present recent experience in July of this year using a UAS to create an OrthoMosaic image of the campus. The effort included one day of creating ground control point targets, a second day of flying and a third day for data processing using Esri’s Drone2Map solution. The result was a 200 acre image with a pixel resolution of 2.25 inches. The image, which currently sits in the cloud in ArcGIS online will be shared.

User Networking
Speaker: Gerald Bartz A GIS study was used to quickly assess the risks of fracking proximal to the Lake Lewisville dam, ranked the 8th most hazardous in the country. GIS combined Oil and Gas exploration pattern recognition skills with available imagery and historical data into an assessment comparing the proposed fracking site to a nearby site having fracking induced earthquakes. The locally televised presentation resulted in protest letters from 500 individuals and 6 municipalities. Subsequently, the acreage, along with that from 3 other Texas reservoirs, was withdrawn from the lease sale.
