Ronnie Hampton Captain, Oklahoma Highway Patrol | Keynote Speaker Ronnie Hampton is a highly respected law enforcement professional with 37 years of experience in the policing profession, including 28 years of distinguished service with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Throughout his career, Captain Hampton has held a range of critical leadership roles—from overseeing two field troop commands to investigating trooper-involved shootings and creating the Traffic Homicide Unit that has modernized the approach to traffic death prosecutions in the state. He has served in various roles at the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Hampton was responsible for overseeing the OHP’s Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) Program and served as the FBI Criminal Justice Systems Officer (CSO) for the State of Oklahoma ensuring compliance and safety with all CJIS connections between Oklahoma and the FBI. He also held the role of State AMBER Alert Coordinator, activating more than 60 lost person investigations with 100% safe recovery, demonstrating a career-long commitment to protecting the public and advancing justice. Fifteen years ago, Captain Hampton began pioneering the use of GIS (Geographic Information System) data to address vehicle collisions through a data-driven, prevention-focused lens. As the Captain of the Futures, Capabilities, and Plans Division, he worked directly under the Commissioner of the Department of Public Safety and the Chief of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to integrate advanced data tools and strategies into statewide operations. Using geospatial data to forecast dangerous locations in Oklahoma and then using a data driven approach led to successful collision reduction and injury prevention operations saving more than 40 lives in the past ten years. Today, Ronnie Hampton continues to serve by providing training courses. His mission is to modernize police practices, improve case readiness for trial, and strengthen the investigative process from collision to courtroom and educating the policing community on using data to make their communities safer. |
